The Vanuatu National Women’s Beach Volleyball team is back on the road this week, heading to China for the AVC Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships in Pingtan, Fuzhou.

The competition will kick-off on Friday (23-26 June) with the Team Vanuatu pairing of Sherysyn Toko and Majabelle Lawac seeded 9th in the Main Draw.

This tournament is the next step in the continuation of building the international competition experience for this top pair, having competed well in Australia in March, followed by good performances in both AVC and FIVB tournaments in Thailand in April.

Among the 26 teams competing in Fuzhou, Toko and Lawac will come up against rivals from China, Thailand, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

This is all part of the preparation for the first phase of Olympic qualifying for Paris 2024, which will be the Continental Cup – Oceania event in the first week of September.

This major event is significant for Team Vanuatu as it is being hosted by Vanuatu Volleyball Federation in Port Vila, giving the players their first opportunity to compete on home sand, in front of family, friends and the very supportive Vanuatu community.

The Pingtan match schedule will be released late on Thursday with both fixtures and results continually posted and updated across this weekend on the VVF Vanuatu Beach Facebook page.
