In mid May, Volley4Change joined a very special group of women as they gathered in Mele Village, on the edge of Port Vila, for the Presbyterian Women Missionary Union (PWMU) program – a convention held every 4 years to celebrate the role of women in the Vanuatu community.

The V4C program has become viewed as a significant facilitator for empowering vulnerable groups like women, and those with disabilities, to lead, thrive, excel and shape the community in which they live – to be empowered! And so when the invitation came to be a key part of the week-long program, VVF happily accepted.

More than 35 women, plus a good contingent of youth girls, particpated across the week, coming from Epi, Malekula, Ambrym and of course, local Efate communities.

The gathering consisted of general morning sessions as well as ‘electives’ in the afternoon, which saw volleyball as one of the key activities, where not only the promotion of physical activity to support good health and well-being were highlighted, but new friendships were also made.
